THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS

"If he offers it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer, with the sacrifice of thanksgiving, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers anointed with oil, or cakes of blended flour mixed with oil" (Lev. 7:12 NKJV).

The above are instructions that God gave to Moses for the purpose of instructing the Levites on how to make different offerings and sacrifices unto Him. I wonder what became of the "thanksgiving leftovers"? Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day here in America. I am sure that even today people are still making good use of those "Thanksgiving leftovers." We are never really out of "thanksgiving leftovers" in the spiritual sense. Paul told the Christians in Thessalonica that he gave thanks to God "always" for them (1 Thess. 1:2). He told the Ephesians, "I...do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers" (Eph. 1:15, 16). To the Corinthians he wrote, "I thank my God always concerning you..." (1 Cor. 1:4). He told the Philippians, "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer..." (Phil. 1:3).

Paul never ran out of thankfulness for others. He had plenty of thanks left over to offer to God on their behalf. Believers often share their "thanksgiving leftovers" with members of their family or sometimes even with neighbors or a homeless shelter. That is a good and thoughtful thing to do. We are so blessed and we have so much to share with others. We can also be careful to offer thanks to God for others who have been a blessing in our lives - and let them know we are praying for them. That notification may come just at the right time in their life. They might be so discouraged that they were ready to quit - until they got some "thanksgiving leftovers" from you! Before this day ends let someone know that you thanked God for their life and service. Share your thanksgiving with them.

Hymn: Many are waiting a kind, loving word, Help somebody today! Thou hast a message, O let it be heard, Help somebody today! Help somebody today...Somebody along life's way...Let sorrow be ended...The friendless befriended...Oh, help somebody today! (Mrs. Frank M. Breck)
