THE TRANSFORMER

"Wow, that person has really changed!" Ever hear someone say that about a person? Perhaps they used to be an alcoholic, a drug user, a wife beater, a deadbeat dad, or someone who was given to fits of anger, profanity, or negativity. What changed them? In all probability it was the blessed Holy Spirit who makes it His business to transform lives.
The Bible says, "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Cor. 3:18 NKJV).
Transformation is the divine work of the Holy Spirit. He changes us from one kind of person into another kind. Paul describes this transforming power in the church at Corinth, a center of vice and sin if there ever was one. To be "Corinthian" was to be one who lived sin to the hilt. Paul lists them: fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners. But notice what he says next: "And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of our Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Cor. 6:11 NKJV). What a job of transformation the Holy Spirit did on those Corinthians! Now they reflected the glory of God and the image of Christ. The Holy Spirit is still in the business of transforming lives. He turned Saul of Tarsus from a persecutor of Christians into a preacher of Christ. He can do the same for you if you will yield to Him.
Prayer/Hymn: "Holy Spirit, all divine, Dwell within this heart of mine; Cast down every idol-throne, Reign supreme and reign alone." (Andrew Reed)
