"And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord" (Eph. 6:4 NKJV)

Henry Drummond said, "The family circle is the supreme conductor of Christianity." Many today might wonder what a "family circle" might be. I was raise in a home that had "family circle" most every night. My father was the conductor and in 1957, when I was 12, he wrote a poem about it, "Our Family Circle." It is  far too long to quote here but let me just share a few stanzas with you.

We gather in the living room
Before we go to bed
To ask God's blessings be on us
Through all the night ahead;
We thank Him for His loving care
For us through all the day,
And praise Him for assuring us
He hears us when we pray.

We have a Bible reading first
With each one reading some,
Though Bonnie needs some help with words
Not easy for her tongue;
She's only seven, but she tries,
And we, of course, are glad
To help her read, and thus to know
The best Book to be had...

Their mother, weary as she is
When her day's work is done,
Who labors for the many needs
Of every other one,
Provides another blessing, too,
In her sweet, tender ways,
For we perceive her love for us
Each evening when she prays...

In years ahead when each of us
Of whom I write is gone,
And things eternally sublime
With God continue on
In Heaven's circle of His own
We shall praise and adore
The Savior for our place in it
That's broken nevermore.
