THE "UNLESS" FACTOR

"Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain" (Psa. 127:1 ESV).
How many houses are there in North America? I don't have a clue, but the number must be staggering. How many of them have been build by the Lord? How many houses have been built in vain by parents (or those living together without the benefit of marriage) who do not acknowledge God in their lives? Again, the number would be staggering.
I was blessed to be born and raised in a Christian home. God was the One who build every house that we lived in. Therefore, the foundation was firm. The rooms were filled with love and care. The roof of grace sheltered us from the storms of life. It is interesting that the Psalmist goes on to mention children in this chapter. China has a one-child-only policy. Many Americans now look down on large families. Hear the word of the Lord. "Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!" (Psa. 127:3-5 ESV). My wife was reading one day and learned that the ancient Israeli's quiver held six arrows. We have six children so I guess we have a biblical quiver! But the point here, sharp as an arrow point, is that God builds the home through godly parents raising godly children. "As the home goes, so goes the nation." Is your home a "victory" house or a "vain" house?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being the builder and architect of the Home! Through Christ, our Heavenly Guest, we pray.
