THE MASTER'S WORKSHOP

"Anyone can build a house: we need the Lord for the creation of a home" (John Henry Jowett (1864 - 1923).
America's curse is too many houses and not enough homes. I am so thankful that I was born and raised in a Christian home. My parents reflected the goodness and glory of God to me (and my brother and three sisters). We never had a house of our own; we always lived in apartments, rented houses, parsonages, and once even in the back of a church. But we had a home and a good one it was! Jowett was right. Anyone can build a house but we need God to build a home.
God thought of the home long before He build a nation (Israel) or the church. "The LORD God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him'...For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh" (Gen. 2:18, 24 NIV). Jesus quoted this passage in putting His stamp of approval on marriage and the home (Matt. 19:5). The wisdom of God is seen in the creation of the home. For as Richard Milnes observed, "The Christian home is the Master's workshop where the processes of character-molding are silently, lovingly, faithfully and successfully carried on." I am so thankful that I was raised in "The Master's Workshop." I am so sorry for millions of children in America who do not have this opportunity today. I am saddened as I see our legislators caving in to the militant advocates of same-sex unions. "As the home goes, so goes the nation."
Prayer: Holy Father, bless every godly father and mother who is doing their best to be character-builders in the Master's Workshop. May godless parents be brought to saving knowledge of Christ so that they too may build homes that would be pleasing to You. Through Christ we pray.
