"No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him" (Rev. 22:3 NIV)

Our study of Heaven has brought us at last right into the city - to the very heart of the city. In the city "The Throne of God and of the Lamb is at the center" (The Message). The heart of the city is dominated by God's throne. The throne is the center source of the "Water-of-Life River" (The Message). The throne is also the center of service, praise and worship. And why not? It is occupied by God and His Son, the Lamb. In fact, Rev. 5:9 describes the Lamb as "looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne." An innumerable host of angels encircled the throne and sang "Worthy is the Lamb." They were joined by every creature in heaven and on earth in singing praise to the One who sat/stood upon the throne. A similar scene is painted for us in Rev. 7:9-17. The assembled multitude stands before the throne of God and serve Him day and night. The Lamb at the center of the throne serves as their shepherd and leads them to springs of living water (v. 17). The Lamb has taken away the curse because He became a curse for us when He died for our sins on cross (see Gal. 3:13). That's why we will be drawn to the throne in the center of the city - to praise Him, thank Him, worship Him, and serve Him for ever and ever, Amen!

Hymn: "On the margin of the river, washing up its silver spray, we will walk and worship ever, all the happy golden day. Yes, we'll gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river; Gather with the saints at the river that flows by the Throne of God" (Robert Lowry).
