YOUR HEAVENLY SAFE-DEPOSIT

Heaven, in addition to being the dwelling place of God and the eternal dwelling place of the saved, is a big bank. You can bank on it. You can bank in it. Jesus said, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matt. 6:19-21 NIV). Yes, heaven is a safe-deposit for our treasures. How much is in your personal account right now? When did you first begin "storing up" in your heavenly safe-deposit box? When was the last time you made a deposit? How did you feel about it? God keeps the books in heaven. Every deposit you make is carefully noted and recorded. He makes no mistakes.
You can be sure your account is accurate. There will be no just cause for an audit or argument on Judgment Day.

Someone once said, "Do your giving, while your living. Then you're knowing where it's going." Every time you minister to someone in the name of Jesus, even if it is "only" giving them a cup of cold water, you are storing up treasures in heaven. Every time you write that check to a special mission work, you storing up treasures in heaven. I never feel better about writing a check than when I am giving to some worthy Kingdom cause. What does your checkbook register say about the status of your heavenly safe-deposit? Could you store up less for yourself on earth and more for heaven? Some day you will be glad you did!

Prayer: Father, thank You for the privilege of giving to Your cause. Create within us a greater desire to lay up treasure in heaven. Take away from us the desire to bank too much on earth. Through Christ we pray.
