"NAMES WRITTEN IN HEAVEN"

"You have come...to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven" (Heb. 12:22, 23a NIV).

The Book of Life contains the names of everyone in heaven. Jesus told His disciples not to rejoice that demons submitted to them, but "rejoice that your names are written in heaven" (Luke 10:20). Those who are overcomers will never have their names erased from the Book of Life (see Rev. 3:5). This book is called "the Lamb's book of life" in Rev. 21:27). You can be sure that there will be no mistakes by the Bookkeeper!

Nearly every week I get an email from some outfit that wants to include me in their special book - there must be scores of "Who's Who" books out there. The only book I care about having my name listed in is the Book of Life - the Lamb's Book of Life! Paul wrote to the church in Philippi and praised those gospel workers "whose names are in the book of life" (Phil. 4:3), unsung heroes like Clement. When I think of how many faith gospel workers I have known - and know today - who are in that book, I am overcome with emotion. What a day that will be when we are all together again! So let us not work against each other (like Euodia and Syntyche were) but let us, together, "labor for the Master from the dawn to setting sun" so that "when the Roll is called up yonder" we'll all be there!

Hymn: Lord, I care not for riches, neither silver nor gold; I would make sure of heaven, I would enter the fold; in the book of Thy kingdom, with its pages so fair, tell me, Jesus my Savior, is my name written there? Is my name written there, on the page white and fair? In the book of Thy kingdom, is my name written there?" (Mary A. Kidder)
