ISRAEL'S FAITH, PART 2

"By [the people having] faith, the walls of Jericho fell in response to their marching around them for seven days" (Heb. 11:30, The New Testament: An Understandable Version, William E. Paul).

Someone has said, "Walls have ears." If so, they must have heard the marching feet that brought them down. And the sound of trumpets and the great shout (see Joshua 6:20). The walls came tumbling down because of the faith of the Israelites who took God at His word and followed to a "t" the world's strangest battle plan. So once again we see Israel in one of her finer moments of faith. For one week their faith was strong and not weak. They took the city of Jericho because of faith.

I wonder what walls might fall in my life and your life if we would but manifest a firmer faith in the plan of God? Faith is in it for the long haul. Answers to prayers and rewards for actions do not always come overnight. We must continue in faith just like the Israelites did when they continued to march around the city of Jericho. Standing walls do not have a testimony. Fallen walls do. They testify to the power of God and to the effectiveness of a people's faith in God. Let us face our walls in faith.

Hymn: "In heavenly armor we'll enter the land, the battle belongs to the Lord!
No weapon that's fashioned against us will stand, the battle belongs to the Lord!
We sing glory, honor, power and strength to the Lord.
We sing glory, honor, power and strength to the Lord!" (Jamie Owens-Collins)
