THE FAITH OF MOSES, PART 6

"By an act of faith, he kept the Passover Feast and sprinkled Passover blood on each house so that the destroyer of the firstborn wouldn't touch them" (Heb. 11:28 The Message).
Genuine, biblical, saving faith is so much more than mental assent - merely saying, "I believe." Moses' faith was robust, hearty, and obedient. His faith moved him into action. He kept the Passover. He sprinkled blood on the door posts of each house. Faith is not selfish or strictly individual. It thinks of others. It is concerned for their welfare. Moses was not content with personal faith. He wanted to see national faith. You and I long for that too, don't we? We want everyone to know God, trust God, love God, and serve God. People of faith are concerned about their homes, their families, their church, their neighbors, their community, their nation.
It was the blood of the Passover lamb that was applied to the door post of each believing household. That is what protected them from the Death Angel. Today it is our faith in Christ - the True Passover Lamb - and the blood He shed on the cross for our sins, that "marks" our spiritual house. Christ is our "propitiation" - our covering. Few of us would think of having no insurance covering our house. How many houses is your neighborhood are covered by the blood of Christ? Jesus is the mediator of a new covenant and His sprinkled blood speaks to us today (see Heb. 12:24). Let us continue to put our trust in Him for our salvation and for the salvation of all who are under our roof.
Hymn: "I do believe, I now believe that Jesus died for me; and through His blood, His precious blood, I shall from sin be free" (Charles Wesley).
