"By faith...he persevered because he saw him who is invisible" (Heb. 11:27 NIV).
Here we find the true "perseverance of the saints." Saving faith perseveres. It hangs in there. It endures the attacks of the world, the flesh, and the devil. It triumphs over all adversity. Moses had more reasons to quit than the average person. Leading the Children of Israel out of Egypt to the Promised Land was no easy task. They were constantly complaining and criticizing. But Moses kept on going, day after day, because he was motivated by something supernatural.
The text says he persevered "because he saw him who is invisible." How do you do that? See someone who is invisible - who isn't visible to the naked eye? This is why we call it "the eye of faith." The Message says, "He had his eye on the One no eye can see, and kept right on going." Corrie ten Boom found herself in a terrible concentration camp during World War II. But she maintained her faith in God. We have this wonderful quote from her today to sustain and strengthen us in our tough times: "Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible."

The faith by which they conquered death is still our shining shield" (John H. Yates"
