PARADOXES OF THE CROSS

Several years ago I clipped an article out of The Church Speaks titled "The Paradoxes of the Cross of Christ." That was in September 1964. I have kept it all these years and thought my readers might be blessed by looking at 10 paradoxes of the cross. A paradox is something that at first glance seems impossible or even untrue. But upon closer examination it turns out to be both possible and true!
Paradox of the Cross #1. Jesus came into the world that we might enter heaven.
Our Lord didn't have to leave heaven. He could have stayed there forever enjoying its beauty and splendor. But come He did. "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief" (1 Tim. 1:15 NKJV). He came not to be served, but to serve "and to give His life as a ransom for many" (Matt. 20:28). And He did all this so that we could leave earth and enter heaven! "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:3). I'm so glad that we have "a house not made with hands, eternal in heavens" (2 Cor. 5:1), aren't you? Jesus came to earth - we go to heaven. That doesn't seem fair, but thank God it is true! Tomorrow: Paradox of the Cross #2.
Hymn: He left the splendor of heaven, knowing His destiny, 'Twas the lonely hill of Golgotha, there to lay down His life for me (Dottie Rambo).
