CAPTURING THOUGHTS

DAY 16 - Sometimes our thoughts run wild and that is not good for us. We must capture those thoughts. That is what our text today tell us in 2 Cor. 10:5 NIV. "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we capture every thought to make it obedient to Christ." Now this really calls for discipline on our part. The text does not say God captures every thought - it says "we capture every thought." Then more discipline - we "make it obedient to Christ."

The KJV says "bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." We must capture those thoughts and bring them as POWs to our commander, Jesus Christ. The Message calls them "loose thoughts." They need to be rounded up or corralled as it were. Don't let your thoughts run riot. That will lead to no good thing. Tell yourself, "I must get these thoughts under control." Pray about it. Ask your Helper (the Holy Spirit) for help. Fix your thoughts on things that are true and righteous (Phil. 4:8). Set your mind on things above, not on things below (Col. 3:2). This calls for discipline. This is what disciples do.

Prayer: Holy Father, grant us that holy desire to capture every thought that is against Your knowledge and empower us to make it obedient to Christ.
