A SPECIAL HOUSE GUEST

DAY 7 - What do you do when you know that company is coming? What if that person or couple is a very special friend? Do you just leave things as they are? Or do you make a special effort to "clean house" and make sure everything is just right when they arrive? Our text today says, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." (Col. 3:16 NIV). This is key to possessing the mind of Christ! We must let (permit, allow) the word of Christ to richly dwell in us. It is impossible to have the mind of Christ if we do not allow the word of Christ to "have its home (in your hearts and minds) and dwell in you in [all its] richness" (Amplified New Testament). Our mind is a dwelling for His word.

The Message reads, "Let the Word of Christ - the Message - have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives." Sometimes we say to our house guests, "The place is yours. Make yourself at home." That is what we need to remind ourselves from the moment we wake up to the moment we retire at night. "Jesus, the place is Yours. Make Yourself at home." Then serve Him all day long. As the chorus goes, "Serve Him in the morning, serve Him the evening, serve Him 'til the sun goes down." And then some.

The vow of David: "I will not enter my house or go to my bed - I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids, till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob" (Psa. 132:3-5 NIV).
