MAKING CHRIST KNOWN

"Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child" (Luke 2:17 NKJV).

The Bethlehem shepherds were the first "evangelists" in the Christmas story. Once they had seen the Babe of Bethlehem, they immediately "told everyone what had happened to them and what the angel had said to them about this child" (TLB). And what had the angel told them? "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (v. 11). This was indeed "the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone!" (TLB).

Once Christmas is "over" (it never truly is you know) we have the glorious privilege of making Christ known - in the neighborhood and to every person in every nation who has not yet heard the Glad Tidings about a World Savior! Let us emulate the shepherds of Bethlehem today and in the days ahead.

Hymn: "While shepherds kept their watching o'er silent flocks by night,
Behold, throughout the heavens there shone a holy light.
Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere;
Go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born! "
(John W. Work II)
