O HOLY NIGHT!

"Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them..." (Luke 2:8,9 NKJV).

What a night that was! The history of the world changed the night Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The night became bright as noonday when the glory of God shone around the shepherds. Every sheep and lamb and scrub bush and blade of grass glimmered like glass in the blinding light of God's glory. The world would never be the same. And you will never be the same either if you make that trek to Bethlehem as the shepherds did some two thousand years ago. It is a journey still worth taking.

I cannot improve on the words of John S. Dwight, who wrote "O Holy Night!" Sing them with me, will you?

O holy night! the stars are brightly shining, it is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining, 'til He appeared and the soul felt it's worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn;
Fall on your knees, O, hear the angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born!
O night, O holy night, O night divine!

Prayer: O Father in Heaven, watch over all my dear friends this holy night. Help them to know and feel the true meaning of Christmas. And around the world this Christmas night, "Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care, and fit us for Heaven, to live with Thee there." Through Christ we pray.
