TEACHING AND ADMONISHING

"...teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom..." (Col. 3:16c The Amplified New Testament).
The early church was a teaching and admonishing church. Earlier in this letter Paul wrote, "And we proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, that we may present every man complete in Christ" (Col. 1:28 NASB). It is a wonderful thing to be a part of a congregation that takes this command seriously. When only one person speaks we can only learn from that person's insight. But when we can participate in a Bible class, or a small group discussion, teaching and admonition and training can take place. Insights, intelligence, and wisdom does not reside with any one person alone. Who am I to think that you do not have anything to add to the conversation?
We are travelers together on the road of life. If I can help you learn something or be encouraged, great. And if you have an insight or a gem of wisdom to share with me, even better. "Teach and help one another along the right road..." (J. B. Phillips). Walter Lipman said, "As yet no teacher has ever appeared who was wise enough to know how to teach his wisdom to all mankind." The exception would be, of course, Jesus Christ. We don't know it all so we can share what we do know. We can share what we know with those who are humble, teachable, hungering, thirsting, like-minded saints of God!
Prayer: Our Father in Heaven, help us to share what we know of Your perfect Will and Word with our fellow Christians. Through Christ we pray.
