"When Christ who is our life..." (Col. 3:4 NKJV).

Is Christ your life? Paul is reminding the Colossian Christians that Christ is our life! The N.T. in Modern English (Phillips) reads: "Christ, the secret center of our lives." I like that. Our lives will never be off-center when Christ is the center of our lives! He is the secret to our spiritual success.

For some people food is the center of their life. For others it is sex, or power, or sports, or cars, or real estate, or the stock market, or fashion, or celebrities, or you name it. I'm glad for this reminder. Christ is our very life. The life we now live we live by the power of Christ. In Christian service camp we used to sing a chorus that said, "Out of my heart, out of my heart, shine out of my heart, Lord Jesus. Shine out today, shine out always, shine out of my heart, Lord Jesus." Only when Christ is the secret center of our lives can that little chorus come true. Weymouth's translation reads, "He is our true Life." If Christ is your true life no one can take your life from you, and you will never "lose" your life, even when you die.
