BUCKLE UP!

"Buckle up! It's the law!" I see that sign on many highways that I travel across America. God has some advice for everyone who travels the road of life. "Buckle on the belt of truth..." (Eph. 6:14b NEB). This belt is not a seat belt. Rather, it is the belt that a soldier would wear. Suspended from that belt was his sword, sheathed in a scabbard. Remember, as Paul pens these words he is chained to a Roman soldier. Perhaps Paul glances up every once in awhile to see what the soldier is wearing and then writes it down in his letter, making a spiritual analogy.
Jesus was and is the truth (John 14:6). God's word is truth (John 17:17). The truth is what sets men free (John 8:32). We are in a battle for truth. We must know the truth, believe the truth, and fight for the truth. We are living in a time when men no longer believe in absolute truth. But truth does not blush (Tertullian). Truth is a divine thing (Thoma Aquinas). I like this quote from John Huss:
Seek the truth
Listen to the truth
Teach the truth
Love the truth
Abide by the truth
And defend the truth...unto death.
Huss knew what he was talking about. He was burned at the stake because of his love for and stand for the truth! Is what you are living for worth dying for? It was to Huss. May God increase His kind.Prayer: Dear God, above all, help us to stand for the truth - Your Truth!
