LIVING CAREFULLY This entry was posted on 07-09-2008 and is filed under uncategorized. "Take great care, then, how you live - not unwisely, but wisely" (Eph 5:15 TCNT).
I've just returned from a Christian convention that had as it's theme: "Living Dangerously." I know that the convention planners were suggesting that Christians live a more radical life for Christ, and I agree with that premise. It is dangerous to take a stand for Christ in an anti-Christian climate, but we need to do so. Jesus went to the cross for us and we need to go out on a limb for Him! Today's text, however, urges us to live carefully. J. B. Phillips says, "Live life, then, with a due sense of responsibility." The NIV says, "Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise." Others are watching our Christian walk. People are listening to our conversation. Critics are observing how we react to circumstances. The Amplified says, "Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise - sensible, intelligent people." The people I respect most are those "sensible, intelligent people." That's what I want to be, too. I want to make wise choices of my words and actions, don't you? Let us ask God to help us live carefully each day. |
