QUIT LIVING LIKE A GENTILE

"...you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God..." (Eph. 4:17b, 18a NIV).

Once we lived like the Gentiles do, because we were one of them. But now we are Christ's. We are "light in the Lord" and should "live as children of light" (5:8). Paul tells us three characteristics of living like a Gentile. (1) Their thinking processes are futile. The way the world thinks is not the way God thinks. Don't fall into the trap of thinking like a pagan. (2) Their understanding is darkened. A person without God's Holy Spirit is incapable of spiritual understanding (see 1 Cor. 2:14). (3). They are separated from the godly life. Separated! What a terrible thing - to be separated from the life of God. Millions live that way every day. I don't want to live one day that way, do you?

May your thoughts be centered on God. May your understanding of God and His ways be enlightened. May you always live close to God. May you never live one day, or even one hour, like a Gentile! May you always live like Jesus!
