"...of which I forewarn you just as I have forewarned you that those who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God" (Gal. 5:21 NASB).

Here are the stark, dark, eternal, catastrophic consequences of carnality! Shut out forever from the eternal kingdom of God! Could anything be worse? There are only two kingdoms to "inherit" at the end of one's life: God's or Satan's. Both are eternal. But only one is a place of peace and light. The other is an endless nightmare of torment and darkness - outer darkness.

A similar warning is sounded in 1 Cor. 6:9, 10. "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God" (NASB). I am thankful that the next verse goes on to say: "And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified; but you were justified in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God" (v. 11).

Before we move on the the rich fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22,23) let us quickly jump to verse 26: "Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." Make this your daily practice with God's help.

Prayer: Righteous Father, thank You for forewarning us in Your Holy Word about the consequences of practicing the works of the flesh. Now, through Your Holy Spirit, empower us to live above the world, the flesh, and the devil. Through Christ we pray.
