LED BY THE SPIRIT

"But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law" (Galatians 5:18 NASB).
Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt. No longer were they under the oppression of the Egyptians. The Holy Spirit leads us today. No longer are we under the Law. The Christian is under grace, not law (Romans 6:15).
What does it mean to be led by the Spirit? I believe that it means to follow the directions, promptings, and teachings of the Holy Spirit. A conductor leads the orchestra. A commander leads the troops into battle. If no one follows the conductor's baton, or plays whatever notes he wants to play, the result is chaos. If the troops do not follow the commander into battle, defeat is sure.
"Follow the directions!" How often were we told that by our parents, teachers, or bosses? And yet it was true. It is no less true in regard to following the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Jesus called Him our "Helper." He said that He would be with us forever, that He would abide in us, and guide us into all truth (John 14-16). Let us thank God today for the wonderful leadership of the Holy Spirit. Let us always be "led by the Spirit."
Prayer/Hymn: "Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew, that I may love what Thou dost love, and do what Thou wouldst do. Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure, until my will is one with Thine, to do and to endure." (Edwin Hatch)
