"Cling to what is good" (Romans 12:9c NKJV).

When I was a small child I used to cling to my mother like crazy when we happened to be in a department store. I didn't want to let her out of my sight. Once we were in an elevator. She was wearing a blue coat. When the doors opened I grabbed onto a blue coat and followed her out. But it was not my mother's coat! I just about lost it. Then the lost was found and all was O.K. Whew!

It's all right to be a "clinger" - if we are clinging to what is good. It is not enough just to "abhor what is evil." We must also "cling to the right" (TCNT). The KJV says, "cleave to that which is good." The Hebrew word for "cleave" means to stick like glue. A husband and wife are to cleave to each other. A Christian should cleave to that which is Christlike. "Wed yourselves to what is good" is how The Centenary Translation puts it. Are you married to goodness and are you clinging to good like you would your loving spouse? Don't let anything in this world come between you and true goodness! Never, ever let go of good. Goodness will lead you to God. Be a clinger!

Hymn: Oh. for a closer walk with God, a calm and heavenly frame; a light to shine upon the road that leads me to the Lamb! (William Cowper [pronounced Cooper])
