"Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will" (Romans 12:2 NIV).

I don't know about you but for me trying to determine what God's will for my life is has been a 50-year struggle. But this passage gives me hope. We've been looking at Romans 12:1,2 all week long and I think I'm starting to "get it." Offering ourselves to God as "living sacrifices" helps us know what God's will is for our lives. He wants the best for us and the best is in living for Him, not self.

Mrs. C. H. Morris was a preacher's wife who composed hymns as she scrubbed the floor on her knees or ironed her husband's shirts. She was not born blind but eventually she went blind. She had great insight, however, into the will of God as is evidenced in her great hymn "Sweet Will of God." Ponder the words (sing them if you know the tune).

My stubborn will at last hath yielded; I would be Thine and Thine alone;
And this the prayer my lips are bringing, "Lord, let in me Thy will be done."

Thy precious will, O conquering Savior, Doth now embrace and compass me;
All discords hushed, my peace a river, My soul a prisoned bird set free.

Shut in with Thee, O Lord, forever; My wayward feet no more to roam;
What power from Thee my soul can sever? The center of God's will my home.

Chorus:
Sweet will of God, still fold me closer, Till I am wholly lost in Thee;
Sweet will of God, still fold me closer, Till I am wholly lost in Thee.

      Here's a thought that came across my desk this morning from Dean Huffman, missionary to the Ukraine: "I have become convinced that most of the time people know what God's will is for their lives, they are just waiting for a more 'reasonable' and acceptable choice."
