NAMES & TITLES OF CHRIST

Some scholars say there are as many as 700 names and titles of Christ contained in Scripture. In my "Celebrating 33 Enduring Qualities of Jesus of Nazareth" I list 200 of these names and titles. Today we will start looking at just a few of them, starting with the letter "A." Don't hurry through this list but do "check it twice."
Of course, Christ is our Advocate (1 John 2:1), the Alpha (Rev 22:13), and the Ancient of Days (Dan 7:9). He is the Beloved Son (Mark 1:11), Branch of Righteousness (Jer 33:15), and Bright Morning Star (Rev 22:16). He is the Chief Cornerstone (Mark 12:10), Commander (Isa 55:4), and Consolation of Israel (Luke 2:25). He is the Daystar (2 Pet 1:9), Deliverance of Zion (Joel 2:32), and Desire of all nations (Hag 2:7). And He is Emmanuel [God with us] (Isa 7:14), Ensign of the people (Isa. 11:10), and the Everlasting Father (Isa 9:6).
You and I have just a few names, nicknames, or titles. Not so our Lord Jesus! Perhaps that's why Charles Lamb declared, "If Shakespeare should come into this room, we would all rise; but if Jesus Christ should come in, we would all kneel." Truly, the names of the Christ are above all other names! Tomorrow we shall look at a few more.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You for sending the best gift anyone could ever receive - Your Only Begotten Son! May we never take His name(s) in vain or put Him to shame.
