THE SOUL'S ANCHOR

Every ship that goes to sea has a good anchor. A ship without an anchor imperils everyone and everything on board. Does your ship have a good anchor? Listen to our text today: We have this hope - like a sure and firm anchor of the soul - that enters the inner sanctuary...Jesus has entered there on our behalf...(Hebrews 6:19, 20 CS
.
Hope is the anchor of the soul - "a sure and firm anchor of the soul." That anchor is Christ Himself, who has already made atonement for our sin and has entered the presence of God, there to intercede for us daily (7:25). Whenever your life gets stormy, depend upon your sure and firm anchor of the soul. "Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Col. 1:27). And here is an acrostic to help you in those stormy times:
Hold
On
Praying
Expectantly
That is, hold on to your anchor, Jesus Christ, praying expectantly!
Hymn: "It is safely moored, 'twill the storm withstand, For 'tis well secured by the Savior's hand; And the cables, passed from His heart to mine, Can defy the blast, through strength divine" (Priscilla J. Owens)
