"...they are recrucifying the Son of God and holding Him up to contempt" (Hebrews 6:6 CS.

Who would do such a thing? Recrucify the Son of God? Unthinkable! Any of us who have seen The Passion of the Christ recoil in horror at the thought of our Lord having to go through all that suffering and agony again. Yet, our text today tells us that some people are doing this. And it's not who you think it might be!

Chapter 6 is a strong warning against regression. In fact, the writer declares that "it is impossible to renew to repentance" these recrucifiers of Christ. Who are they?
1. They were once enlightened.
2. They tasted the heavenly gift.
3. The became companions with the Holy Spirit.
4. They tasted God's good word and the powers of the coming age.
5. They fell away from Christ.
These were not part of the howling mob that cried for Christ's crucifixion. They were Hebrew converts that had fallen away. So much for the idea of "Once saved, always saved." Don't put Jesus on the cross again. Live a life of faithful gratitude to the One who died in your place!

Prayer: Holy Father, may we never, ever recrucify Your dear Son and hold Him up to open contempt. May we be faithful to Him even unto death.
