7 UNIQUE QUALITIES OF THE WORD: Part 2

"For the word of God is...piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12b NKJV).
Yesterday we looked at 4 unique qualities of the Word of God. Today we will look at 3 more.
5. The Word of God is penetrating. It is like the point of a rapier (a sharp-pointed sword used by soldiers for quick thrusts). At Pentecost, 3,000 hearers were "cut to the heart" by what Peter preached. The Word penetrates to the marrow of our manhood and to the secrets of our soul.
6. It is discriminating. "It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." It will do this throughout our lives and especially on the Day of Judgment (John 12:48). Let the reader take note!
7. It is revealing. "Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account" (4:13 NIV). God's Word reveals us as we are - sinners in the presence of a Holy God. But it also reveals to us His Son, the perfect sacrifice for our sins.
Determine today that you will let God's Word do its work in you.
