7 UNIQUE QUALITIES OF THE WORD: Part I

"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword..." (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV).

There are 7 unique qualities of the Word of God contained in this passage. Today we will look at 4 of them.

1. The Word of God is divine. Note that it is called "the word of God." This phrase appears 103 times in the Bible. We cannot live without having the word of God in our lives. We are to live by "every word which proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matt. 4:4).

2. It is living. That's because it's Author is still living! This Book beats with the heartbeat of God. There is vitality in this Volume - it is full of Force. "May this Force be with you!"

3. It is active (some translations say powerful). It converts men. It energizes men. Its teachings have transformed millions of lives all over the earth. Wherever the seed is sown, a mighty harvest springs up.

4. It is cutting edge stuff. "Sharper than any two-edged sword." It cuts both ways - the hearts of the hearers and the hands of the speaker. It is a sword without a handle.

Prayer: Father, what a gift You have given us in Your Holy Word. May we never go a day without living by a word that comes from Your mouth. Through Christ, the Living Logos (Word), we pray.
