ANGELS: AT YOUR SERVICE

"Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?" (Hebrews 1:14 NIV).

It should always be remembered that Christ is superior to the angels (1:4). He is God's only Son and angels worship Him. Christ alone sits at the Father's right hand (1:13). Nevertheless, angels do have an important ministry. Jesus was sent to save; angels are sent to serve the saved. They are commissioned to serve those who wear Christ's name - those who will inherit salvation.

In my book Angels & Demons (later released as Heavenly Hosts), I mention some of the services angels render on our behalf. They are on 24-hour call to serve the saints. They guide, guard, and rescue. They watch over the church, witness our worship, and are interested in the message of redemption. Angels are present when a believer's time comes to die. They transport the spirit of a Christian into the arms of God. Thank God for the ministry of angels! "The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them" (Psalm 34:7).

Hymn/Prayer: "Though destruction walk around us, Though the arrows past us fly. Angel guards from Thee surround us; We are safe if Thou art nigh." (James Edmeston)
