"He is a faithful God..." (Deut. 7:9b NIV).

The writer wants us to know something - "Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God." I believe that this word "faithful" encompasses everything we need to know about God. He is faithful. People (even leaders of people) are fickle, faithless, unstable, and untrustworthy. Not so with God. You can count on God to keep His word and fulfill all His promises.

Tourists are delighted at Yellowstone National Park to see "Old Faithful" erupt right on time year after year, decade after decade. You can depend on God. He is trustworthy and true. The God who called us is faithful (1 Cor. 1:9). God is faithful: He will not allow you to suffer more than you can bear (1 Cor. 10:13). The Lord is faithful: He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one (2 Thess. 3:3). He is our faithful Creator (1 Pet. 4:19).
