REDEEMED FROM THE HOUSE OF BONDAGE

"...and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt" (Deut. 7:8d NKJV).
Notice that the "mighty hand of the Lord" that we discussed yesterday is far more powerful than the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. God redeemed Israel from the "land of slavery" (NIV). Do you realize that when you were in sin you were actually in a slave, held in bondage? God is in the redemption business. He has redeemed us from the house of bondage through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Pulpit Commentary notes: "The redemption from Egypt...was but a faint type of greater deliverance which God has now wrought (accomplished) for his Israel in Christ....redemption from sin...The cost of our salvation is Christ's blood." This is our redemption. "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed...but with the precious blood of Christ" (1 Pet. 1:18,19 NIV).
Praise: "Redeemed how I love to proclaim it! Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb; Redeemed through His infinite mercy, His child, and forever, I am" (Fanny J. Crosby). Prayer: Thank You, God of grace, for redeeming us from the house of bondage through the blood of Your Only Son.
