WHEN NUMBERS DON'T COUNT!

"The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people; for you were the least of all peoples" (Deut. 7:7 NKJV).
Numbers don't always count! First, notice that God did not set His love on Israel because they outnumbered other nations in the national census report. But He did set (Hebrew, "cleave") His love upon them. Second, He did choose them because they were more than other peoples for they were the least of all peoples.
Are you in a church that is small, even despised by larger churches? Take heart today. God does not set His love on people because of the size of their family or church. He does not choose people to serve them based on their numerical size. God can save by few or by many, but in this case He chose Israel in spite of their size. Remember the Six Day War of 1967? Israel, though vastly outnumbered by an alliance of Arab nations, sent their enemies packing in record time. When God sets His love upon you, in spite of your numbers, in spite of the fact that you are "one of the least of these," look for good things to happen!
Prayer: Father, thank You for setting Your everlasting love upon us. Through Christ we pray.
