UP WITH PEOPLE, PART 2

"The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself" (Deut. 7:6b NKJV).
Not only was Israel a "holy" people, they were a "chosen" people. The KJV reads, "God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself." How could Israel not feel good about themselves? Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, had chosen them to be His special people!
Do you remember how good it felt when you were young and you were chosen first by someone you looked up to? Maybe it was a game of baseball on a vacant lot. Your hero chose you to be on his team! When Dave Harvey (who went on to play for Iowa State) picked me, I lowered my head but had a big smile on my face! Well, something far greater than that has happened. Compare this wonderful passage to 1 Peter 2:9, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you..." Say to yourself: "God has chosen me to be a special person for Himself. Today, I will declare His goodness to all that I meet."
Praise: "I am so glad that our Father in heaven tells of His love in the Book He has given; wonderful things in the Bible I see: this is the dearest, that Jesus loves me. I am so glad that Jesus loves me...Jesus loves even me" (Philip P. Bliss)
