UP WITH PEOPLE, PART 1

"For you are a people holy to the LORD your God" (Deut. 7:6a NIV).
This is the first of three uses of "people" in this verse. Israel was to be a holy people, or a people holy to the Lord. "You will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation" (Exo. 19:6). The Hebrew word for "holy" means that which is consecrated, dedicated, or set apart for a special purpose. From it we get the word "saint" or "sanctuary." God has set His people apart to be saints, a sanctuary for Himself in which to dwell.
It would be good to remind yourself of this each morning when you awake. "God, thank you for choosing me to be holy unto You. Help me to be all that You want me to be this day." God is for you. He believes in you. He chose you to be His sanctuary. Do not give in to the world, your flesh, or the devil and live as the unholy, unwashed masses do each day. You are different. You are special. Say, "I am privileged to be a priest in the kingdom of God. I am a part of a holy nation. From this day forward I will live a consecrated, dedicated, separated life for the Lord my God!"
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for making us holy and selecting us to live holy unto You. We renew our vows of consecration to You this day. Through Christ we pray.
