"I have gone astray like a lost sheep; Seek your servant, For I do not forget Your commandments" (Psalm 119:176 NKJV). This final stanza in Psalm 119 is built on the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet, TAU.

Today we end this 22-day series on Psalm 119 by looking at the last verse. The writer admits that he has gone astray like a lost sheep. That is an admission that every one of us must also make. "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all" (Isa. 53:6).

But there is hope for the lost sheep! Why? Because there is a Seeker. Jesus Christ seeks His sheep who have gone astray. And there is Holy Scripture - those divine commandments that God wants us to remember, especially when we stray from Him. "In my worst wanderings I have not fallen away wholly from Thee. Thy Law has neen ever in my thoughts" (Pulpit Commentary). I have found this to be true, haven't you? The Word of God that I have hidden in my heart always comes through to rebuke me of my wandering and going astray. Some call it conscience; I call it conviction of the Holy Spirit working in the Word of God. "For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls" (1 Pet. 2:25).

Prayer: O God, we thank You for this 22-day trip through the richness of the 119th Psalm. Always, always direct our steps according to Your word and give us understanding according to Your Word. Through Christ we pray.
