My Hiding Place

"You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word" (Psalm 119:114 NKJV). Each of the eight verses in this stanza starts with the Hebrew letter SAMEK.
When you were young did you have a special "hiding place" where you could be alone with your thoughts? Perhaps it was in a closet, in the attic, or even in the branches of an old apple tree. There you could retire and be alone, "away from the maddening crowd."
You and I have a special hiding place. It is when we retire to be alone with God. One woman I knew had a comfortable old chair in the basement next to the washing machine. There she would curl up with her Bible while the machine chugged away. A preacher friend of mine in LA, Bill Pile, who passed away July 17, used to drive to the foothills, get away from the city, and get close to God in His word. If you don't have a "hiding place" create one, but know that the true Hiding Place is Almighty God Himself as we meet Him in His Divine Word!
Praise: "You are my hiding place, You always fill my heart with songs of deliverance; Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You, I will trust in You. Let the weak say, 'I am strong in the strength of the Lord!'" (Michael Ledner)
