" So shall I have an answer for him who reproaches me, for I trust in Your word" (Psalm 119:42 NKJV). This 8-line stanza starts with the 6th letter of the Hebrew alphabet, WAW.

Unbelievers like to taunt believers. What is the best way to respond to them? In lime manner? Or with something based upon the Word of God? The latter is better in the Psalmist's estimation.

My friend Rick Deighton has just written a book called Ready to Give an Answer" (order from Xulon, 1-866-909-2665). Rick was once an atheist but now is a Christian. Today he teaches the message of Christianity in university symposiums in Russia where God was reproached for many years. Rick knows firsthand the truth of today's passage. We should always "have an answer for him who reproaches." "Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear" (1 Peter 3:15).

Prayer: Father, thank You for giving us Your Word to share with those who reproach us for Your name's sake. Through Christ we pray.
