"Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen" (Revelation 1:7 NIV).

At last we come to the Book of Revelation in our series of "My Favorite Verses in the Bible." Because there are so many in this book, I shall be writing all week long on my favorites.

When I was a boy at Christian Service Camp at Dolliver State Park near Ft. Dodge, Iowa, we had a "Morning Watch" service. We were instructed to take our Bibles, find a quiet place, read, pray, and look for the Lord's return. I didn't know much about the Bible but I remember reading that when Jesus returned He would come in the clouds. So, if there were clouds in the sky I "listened up." If there were no clouds in the sky, I let my guard down. What a silly boy I was! Clouds can appear at any minute. So can Jesus.

When Jesus comes there will be no "secret rapture" for "every eye will see him" - even those who crucified Him. His coming will be visible, audible (the sound of a trumpet and a great shout), and personal. He is not sending an emmisary. "This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven" (Acts 1:11). He ascended in the clouds and He shall descend in the clouds (Acts 1:9). Are you ready for His return?

Hymn: "Marvelous message we bring, glorious carol we sing, wonderful word of our King - Jesus is coming again! Coming again, coming again, May be morning, may be noon, may be evening and may be soon! Coming again, coming again, O what a wonderful day it will be - Jesus is coming again!" (John W. Peterson)
