The Triumph of Mercy

"For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment" (James 2:13 NKJV).
Some people say they want justice. I don't want justice. I want mercy. For mercy is the only thing that can triumph over judgment. Justice is what we deserve. We all deserve to die because the wages of sin is death. But because of God's mercy in sending Jesus to die for us, we get mercy instead. I'd rather have mercy any day.
This is why we should be merciful to others. If we have shown no mercy there will be none for us. The publican prayed, "God, be merciful to me a sinner!" Those are seven powerful words. He knew what he was - a sinner. He knew what he needed - mercy. He knew where to get it - God. Do people know that they can get mercy from you? The Ark of the Covenant was adorned by the Mercy Seat. Under the New Covenant, Christ is our Mercy Seat. Many we manifest His great mercy to all in need.
Chorus: "Mercy there was great, and grace was free; Pardon there was multiplied to me; There my burdened soul found liberty, At Calvary!" (William R. Newell)
