What's Your Crown?

"For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you...? For you are our glory and joy" (1 Thess. 2:19-20 NKJV).
Paul's crowning achievement was people - people in whose lives he had invested his own. In fact, he confessed, "For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord" (3:8). Their falling away would rob Paul of his joy.
Paul's heroes were ordinary people whose lives had been changed by the power of Christ. Today I read the following convicting words by Dick Staub regarding the celebrity culture in which we live. "What are the implications of allowing our own lives to be influenced by people [he cites Paris Hilton, Rosie O'Donnell, and Don Imus] whom we do not know, will never meet and whose beliefs and values are often antithetical to our own? What need in our lives are we trying to fill through spending even a nanosecond of time on celebrity culture...?" Invest your life with real people with real needs and you will find real joy!
Prayer/Song: "Lead me to some soul today. Oh, teach me Lord just what to say. Friends of mine are lost in sin and cannot find the way. Few there are who seem to care, and few there are who pray. Melt my heart and mold my life, give me one soul today."
