With One Accord This entry was posted on 06-06-2007 and is filed under Devotional. "When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place" (Acts 2:1 NKJV).
When something comes in its fullness, it is always a thing of beauty to behold. Those gathered in the upper room for prayer (1:14) and not yet experienced the power of God in its fullness. The fullness of time is one of God's great marvels (Gal. 4:4). There is something about the phrase "they were all with one accord in one place" that also arrests my attention. The NIV has "they were all together in one place" but you can have people together in one place and still not have unity. Notice other uses of "with one accord" in Acts (4:24; 5:12 et al). When we are of one accord there will be no discord in the church. Praise: "Oh,what joy His love affords when we meet in one accord, and we lift our hearts in praise unto the Lord; there's no place I'd rather be than with the one's who've been set free, I'm so glad I'm in God's great big family" (Lanny Wolfe) |
