Serving Shoulder to Shoulder

"For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language, that they may call on the name of the LORD, to serve Him with one accord" (Zephaniah 3:9 NKJV).
Some day a marvelous restoration will take place. The nations, purified by the cleansing blood of the Messiah, will speak with a "pure language." And they will call upon the name of the Lord (see Acts 22:16; Rom. 10:13). The NIV says, "I will purify the lips of the people." This will be the work of God and it will be something to behold.
It gets better. They will "serve Him with one accord." Literally, "with one shoulder; under one yoke." The NIV says, they will "serve him shoulder to shoulder." Here is a beautiful picture of unity and harmony in the church. Pulpit Commentary notes, "The metaphor implies that all will help to carry the same burden, and to accomplish the same work, bearing the gospel throughout the world, and being all of one mind in the service of Jehovah." I like that picture, don't you? I am so thankful for those whom God has purified who serve shoulder to shoulder with me in the work of Peace on Earth Ministries. Truly, "we are God's fellow workers" (1 Cor. 3:9).
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for these wonderful promises in Your Word! We praise Your name for Your work of restoring a pure language and enabling us to serve You "shoulder to shoulder." Through Christ we pray.
