A GOD LIKE YOU

"Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea" (Micah 7:18,19 NIV).

There is no god like the True and Living God, Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer! Only God can pardon sin and forgive transgressions. Only God can cast our sins into the depths of the sea. All other "gods" are incapable of showing compassion, ministering mercy, or forgiving sins.

Notice the last phrase in this passage: "You will...hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea." I have heard it said that if you could take the largest mountain in the world and cast it into the sea, it would still be covered by at least two miles of water. We used to sing a chorus in summer Bible camp: "Gone, gone, gone, gone, yes my sins are gone. Buried in the deepest sea, yes, that's good enough for me. I shall live eternally, praise God, my sings are g-o-n-e gone!" If God has cast your sins into the depths of the sea, don't don your spiritual scuba gear and go "deep-sea fishing!"

Prayer: Loving Father, thank You for Your matchless mercy, incredible compassion, and awesome ability to take our sins and cast them into the depths of the sea! May we leave them there. Through Christ we pray.
