God's Revealed Plan

"Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7 NIV).

God could conceal His plan for man and never let us know anything about it because He is God - He is sovereign. If that were the case we would be in dire straits indeed. We would not have a clue about what was going on or what was going to happen. But God does not operate like that. This passage tells us that He does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.

Take the prophets out of the picture and Israel would have been left without a message, without instructions to heed and follow. Notice that God calls the prophets "His servants." Think about the faithfulness of prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, and a host of others. And what was the theme of the prophets? Return to God. Repent of sin. Receive the promises. I am thankful today that we can know God's revealed plan - through the prophets.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing Your marvelous plan for us through these special servants. May we heed their call and look unto Jesus to Whom they pointed with the prophetic finger. Through Christ we pray.
