"Through the LORD'S mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness" (Lamentations of Jeremiah 3:22,23 NKJV).

Think with me for a moment about where you might be were it not for the mercies of God. You might not even be reading these lines - you might have been consumed by flood or fire or famine! We ought to praise the Lord as soon as our eyes open, as soon as our feet hit the floor. God has been merciful to us through the night, for another day.

In fact, His mercies and compassions are "new every morning." If someone says to you, "What's new?" you can reply, "God's mercies are new every morning!" Isn't that better than muttering, "Not much" or "SOS - same old stuff"? This year I am writing a book on faithfulness. Yes, we should all live lives of faithfulness. But we should remember, first and foremost, that God is faithful to us - even when we are unfaithful to Him! We have a Faithful Father. Let's sing and pray to Him right now.

Praise/Prayer: "Great is Thy faithfulness," O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not; as Thou hast been Thou forever shalt be. "Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!" Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided, "Great is Thy faithfulness," Lord, unto me! (T. O Chisholm)
