Rise Up and Build!

"So they said, 'Let us rise up and build.' Then they set their hands to this good work" (Nehemiah 2:18 NKJV).
Here are six words that changed the destiny of a nation. They were not spoken by their leader but by the people themselves. Nehemiah shared with them his vision of a resurrected Jerusalem and the people caught the vision. With one voice they declared, "Let us rise up and build!" And they did more than just voice their desire. The Bible says, "Then they set their hands to this good work." They set things in motion. They applied their faith. Declaration (faith) without application (work) is dead.
So, what about you today? Is there a task that you have left undone? Are you a "reproach" because of unfinished projects (v. 17)? Rise up and build! Do the thing you fear to do and the death of fear is certain! Rise up from lethargy and build with integrity. The job got done in Jerusalem when the consensus was stated: "Let us rise up and build." They got it done because "the people had a mind to work" (4:6). They completed the task in only 52 days (6:15). Behold the awesome power of a mindset to build!
Praise: Rise up, O men of God! The Church for you doth wait, Her strength unequal to her task: Rise up, and make her great! (William P. Merrill)
