The Promised Presence

"No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you" (Joshua 1:5 NKJV).
I love this verse in Joshua, in fact verses 3-9 contain many wonderful thoughts. Here we find the Lord assuring Joshua that just as He was with Moses, He would be with him all the days of his life. Then He adds, "I will not leave you nor forsake you" (this verse is quoted in the New Testament in Hebrews 13:5). Don't you suppose Joshua took courage when he received this precious promise?
One with God is a majority. No one can prevail against us if we are aligned with Almighty God. We are in good company. Moses, the great Lawgiver. Joshua, Israel's greatest military leader. Insert your own name. As God was with them, so He will be with you! Notice, too, that He will never leave us in the lurch of forsake us in our time of need. Business associates have, friends may, sometime even mates do, but He will not! Joshua, "the servant of the Lord," died at 110. I believe that God kept His promise to him - and that He will keep His promise to us, those who follow the Captain of our salvation, Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Father of all who are faithful, may we take courage this day to know that You have promised to be with us every step of the way in our pilgrim journey. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
