How to Have Peace of Mind

"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You" (Isaiah 26:3 NKJV).

This is one of my favorite verses in Isaiah. Several years ago I came upon it and ever since I have tried to apply this principle to my thought life. There is much in this world that can cause turmoil in our spirit and soul and send our mind spinning nearly out of control. Worry is a circle of inefficient thoughts whirling around a point of fear. When we stay (fix) our mind on God, and put out trust in Him, He promises to keep us in perfect peace.

During one of my ministries I would call on an older lady named Nellie. She lived in a small house and had very little of this world's goods. There was an old cardboard sign hanging from a piece of twine on her wall that read: "God is greater than any problem I may have." When we focus on that thought we will possess perfect peace. Are you worried and troubled today? Keep your mind stayed (fixed) on God and put your trust in Him. Then He will do His work and keep you in perfect peace!

Praise: I am resting tonight in this wonderful peace, resting sweetly in Jesus' control/For I'm kept from all danger by night and by day, and His glory is flooding my soul./Peace, peace! Wonderful peace, coming down from the Father above. Sweep over my spirit forever I pray, in fathomless billows of love (W. D. Cornell).
